Detailed Itinerary

Day 1| Arrival in Paro to Thimphu (1.2 Hrs)
On arrival, tour guide will receive you and proceed for an hour ride to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. After lunch proceed to visit Memorial Chorten (temple) built in memory of the late 3rd King. Visit Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley offering a nice view of the valley. Also visit the enclosure where Bhutan’s national animal, Takins are kept. Thereafter, drive to visit the largest and newly built statue of Buddha offering magnificent view of entire Thimphu valley. After 5 pm, visit the fortress of Thimphu, Tashichho Dzong which houses the throne of the king.

Day 02| Thimphu to Punakha valley (2.5 Hrs)
After breakfast, visit the School of Arts and crafts where students learn 13 different arts used predominantly in Bhutan, Folk Heritage Museum and the National Library. Drive to the Zilukha nunnery to meet the nuns and interact with them. Lunch in the town and thereafter, proceed to drive two and a half hour for Punakha crossing Dochula pass (3200 mts). If the weather permits one can enjoy a spectacular snowcap view of the Eastern Himalayan as well as the the highest mountains of Bhutan that stretches almost 180 degrees. Walk around the 108 stupas and continue to sub tropical valley of Punakha.

Day 03| Punakha halt
Morning visit Punakha Dzong (fortress), which houses the most elaborated temple in the country. This is a fine example of Bhutanese rich Art and Architecture. Visit a farm house to see the kind of house that Bhutanese live in. After lunch, proceed for an hour hike to the temple of Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Chorten which is perched on a hill from where you’ll see the Punakha valley. Along the walk, we’ll pass through the villages and the locals in their daily lives.

Day 04| Punakha  to Trongsa (5 hrs)
Morning start your drive for Trongsa for approximately 5 hours passing through Wangdi province and view the Wangdi Dzong (Fortress), which happens to be the only fortress with the original roof. Continue to Trongsa over Pelela Pass at 3300m which forms the part of Black mountain range that divides the country into east and west. Enroute one could take a short break and go for  a hike to the remote village of Rujubji. The drive is long but the landscape is picturesque and worth the drive.

Day 05| Trongsa village Festival
We will spend whole day in the festival which will accompany with various mask dances and folk dancers along with jokers actions in the crowd.

Day 06| Trongsa Festival
Whole day in the interesting Trongsa festival and in the afternoon we will take an excursion to Kuenga Rabten and visit Ta Dzong, watch tower which is converted into museum.

Day 07| Trongsa  to Jakar (2.5 hrs)
Morning visit Trongsa town and drive pass by Yotong La pass at 3425m. En route stop over the weaving place, beside the road where “Yatha” (wool weaving) is done which the Valley of Bumthang is famous for. We’ll continue to Jakar for approximately 3 hours drive. Afternoon we will visit Jakar Dzong, Jakar town and Lhodra Karchung Monastery.

Day 08| Jakar Sightseeing
After breakfast, visit Jampay Lakhang, the one of the first two Buddhist temples built in the country. Next, visit Kurjey lakhang Temple, the site where royals are cremated where one can either walk cross the suspension bridge and visit the village of Parar and Tamshing or drive there. End your day with a walk passing by the Swiss farm. Most of the activities can be done on foot. Evening stroll in Jakar town and try some local pancake and noodles.

Day 09| Jakar  to Phobjikha (6 hrs)
Retrace and enjoy the drive back to the valley of endangered Black Necked Crane for approximately 5 hours drive. Black Necked Crane is one of the rare specials of the birds in the world, which migrates from Tibetan plateau to Bhutan in winters. Phobjikha valley is a paradise for nature lovers and hikers so enjoy your hike around. Take an easy valley hike to the Gompa which take about 2 hrs and called Phobjikha Natural Trail.

Day 10| Phobjikha to Paro (6 hrs)
of the Nyingmapa sect in western Bhutan before continuing your drive back to Paro for approximately 6 hours. Visit the 17th century Paro Dzong (Fortress) on foot and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge still in use. Evening stroll around the old Paro town and peep into some local handicrafts stores and to see the lifestyle of the Bhutanese people.

Day 11| Paro sightseeing
Early morning drive to the base for the hike up to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, the most revered temple in the country that literally hangs on a granite cliff overlooking the Paro valley. It is said to be where the legendary Indian saint, Guru Padmasambhava, flew from eastern Bhutan on the back of a tiger to overcome the demons of Paro region who were opposing the spread of Buddhism.  Lunch in the cafeteria. Most of the day will go on the hike as you ascend gradually taking in the breathtaking views along the way.

Day 12| Departure From Bhutan
Morning transfer to the airport (15 mins) for your departure flight. Our tour staff will bid you farewell at the airport.

Ground transportation is by private  vehicles based on number of travelers. we provide clean Air conditioning  and  heat in vehicles . expect bad roads with uphill and narrow tracks too, travel time might delay due to weather too.

Many thanks for organizing such a wonderful tour for us. This will remain our unforgettable trip! We felt so lucky that we were able to visit your beautiful country during the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Bhutan and Japan.

We spent one night in Thimphu, two nights in Phunakha, and two nights in Paro. Phunaka's Lobesa hotel became one of the most impressive splendid hotels we have ever stayed! Its view from the window was just gorgeous and took our breath away.

Nawang was a knowledgeable, kind and caring guide and we learned a lot about your beautiful country from him. Ugay was a safe driver and we felt so comfortable in the lovely Nissan four wheels.

The tour was both very informative and fun. In addition, Nawang accommodated many of our requests and re-arranged the original schedule to our satisfaction. Going to the weekend market in Thimphu became one of the highlights of this tour for us !

We'd like to visit Bhutan again in the future and we will definitely ask you again to organize tour for us.
